i think the OP has a point, when factions came out i noticed plasma hdtv's came down in price too. i think the electronics industry is worried too many people are playing gw on their pc's and not watching enough tv so they lowered their prices.
/end sarcasm

If anyone wants to play WoW so bad, just cut out on the monthly by playing "Blizzlike" Private server. You will see that it is so overrated.

I tried wow, and allmost puked at how bad it was. I never did like the Warcraft series, and WoW is no exception. It was like Lineage 2 with 10x more idiots.

Hmmm if WOW has dropped in price because of GW: Factions popularity, how come GW: Factions has dropped too? Was £29.99 and can be got now for £17.99 (sometimres less with buy 1-get 1 free or 2 for £30 offers).

at first thought "wow this is kinda cool" (great pun as well)
but after 3 days i stopped.
why?
because wow is just quest after quest of kill this, get its remains, talk to some featureless npc, get some pointless skills, rinse, repeat.
the reason why i still play gw is because of pvp
the whole game is centred around it
(the clue is in the title)
and personally this could be one of the reasons why it is doing so well,
or it could just be that lots of people are cheap-skates and cannot stomach a monthly fee.
but i know which i would chose
7£ a month to talk to n.p.c.s
or free to play versus other people and with freinds

lol? You just described every quest in every RPG ever, but you're using it against WoW and no other game. Smells like Anet fanboyism.

Just how far did you play?
And if you didn't play to 40 and get your mount, what game are you really talking about?

Uh... Isn't there an expansion for WoW coming out soon? Wouldn't the price cut for WoW be for that?

Ok, for all the people saying that GW has better graphics because wow came out a "year" before it, GW came out 5 months afterward. WoW came out on november 23rd or 18th or something like that, 2004, GW came out on April 28th 2005.
Secondly, I've played WoW up to 53, I even played a shaman, you know *cough* over powered *cough*. One thing GW has over wow, the pvp is MUCH more fun for a casual gamer. This whole argument is like the arguments of Xbox 360 vs PS3 vs Wii. (getting off topic here so I won't go on)
Another thing GW has on WoW, You don't have to spend every waking hour playing to get your money's worth. WoW has many good features, but it also has many bad features. So does every game, but I like GW's good features more than I hate it's bad ones, and I hate WoW's bad features more than I like it's good ones.

I played to level 30 and I got very bored. When I subscribed again I made a new character on a RP server and got bored again before the month was up. I gave it two chances, and twice I was bored and felt like I accomplished nothing.

That's like when people quit SRO before level 20. At level 20, the game really begins. You can become thief/trader/hunter at 20. Before, it's all about the grind to get there. If you can't do that, you don't need to play, you're not committed enough to do well anyway. Compared to GW, it's like quitting before reaching Drok's, or before going through RA and unlocking TA. You're missing out on a large part of the game. ;o
It's all preference, one game's no better than the other. If we went by numbers and facts to decide though, WoW wins hands down. If we go by raging fanboyism, I'd call it even.

Pot, Kettle, Black
I really tried to like WoW, really, alot of people I know play it, and it's the "big" thing on the net. But really, it's like a beginners MMO. It has many elements of a beginners MMO and something for people at lvl 60 who come in groups of..what was it again 40?
As for the SRO comment. I got to lvl 26 before I quit. It was absolutely disgusting how repetitive it gets "Get 500 of these get 1000 of these!!!" Kinda like the noobonline comic. I don't want to kill the same thing 20000 times -_-
